Established in October 2000, HIPA is a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of HIP Health Plan of New York. In 2006, HIP Health Plan of New York and GHI (Group Health Incorporated) affiliated under the common parent EmblemHealth. Together, HIP and GHI is the largest health insurer based in New York State serving nearly 3.4 million people with over 92,000 providers in 150,000 locations across the tri-state region.
